Register for Fall Emeritus Classes at Oakton

Expand your cultural horizons by enrolling in courses offered through the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Native American Culture and Earth Awareness (BOT E26-61) explores the oral tradition of American Indian culture. This seminar meets 10:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe. Course fee is $20.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies (HUM E74-61) allows cinema buffs to share their thoughts and opinions about current films. This six-week course meets 1 - 3 p.m., Fridays, starting Oct. 8, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $75.

Normandy: Battles and Treasures (ART C76-61) studies World War II battle sites and memorials. This one-time class meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Ray Hartstein Campus. Course fee is $20.

Four Plays by Arthur Miller (HUM B18-61) examines the works of one of the leading American playwrights of the 20th century, including Death of a Salesman. This course meets 1 - 3 p.m., Thursdays, starting Oct. 14, at the Ray Hartstein Campus. Course fee is $60.

Oakton's Emeritus Program, "for the student who wasn't born yesterday," offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing an opportunity to meet peers and share learning experiences.

Students age 60 and over who live within Oakton's district pay half-tuition for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
