African-American
Authors (EGL 226-001) examines more than two centuries of
African American literature, including works by Frederick Douglass,
Booker T. Washington, Langston Hughes, and Toni Morrison. Course meets
Tuesdays, 1 - 3:50 p.m., at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N.
Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
The
History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict (HIS 227-001) surveys
the Arab-Israeli conflict, from the beginnings of Zionist immigration
into Palestine to the present. Class meets Tuesdays, 12:30 - 3p.m.,
at the Ray Hartstein Campus.
Topics
in Humanities: Human Dilemma in Opera (HUM 290-001) is a
thorough look at classic operas, including works by Mozart, Donizetti,
Wagner, Verdi, and Puccini. Course meets Fridays, 9 - 11:50 a.m.,
at the Ray Hartstein Campus.
Digital
Photography (ART 117-002) demonstrates the fundamentals of
photography and how they relate to digital imaging. A $75 lab fee
is required. Course meets Fridays, 9 a.m. - 2:20 p.m., at Oakton's
Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Other
Emeritus credit courses include: History of the Islamic Middle
East in Modern Times (HIS 226-006), and Fitness Center
(PED 190-001).
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
with peers age 50 and over.
