Oakton Emeritus Offers Array of Spring Classes

Explore a wide range of topics this spring by enrolling in classes offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Learning to Draw Portraits (ART C63-71) enhances students' portrait drawing skills using photographs and live models. Seven-week course meets 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Mondays, starting April 11. Course fee is $100.

RUR: What Makes Us Human? (PHL E56-71) examines the classic science fiction work by Czech author Karel Capek, RUR (Rossum's Universal Robots). This prophetic work envisions a world of human-like robots and explores man's relationship with machines. Seven-week course meets 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Thursdays, starting April 14. Course fee is $85.

Jewish History and Culture in Documentary Films (HUM B19-71) provides an opportunity to view and discuss documentaries about Jewish society. Six-week course meets 1 - 3 p.m., Mondays, starting April 18. Course fee is $80.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
