Summer
may be slipping away, but there is still time to register for unique
classes offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.
Terrorism:
An Academic Look (PSE B19-91) examines terrorism as a long-term
political tactic, and whether or not such attacks can be eliminated.
Topics will include the recent London transit system bombings. Three-week
seminar meets 2 - 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays, starting Aug. 3, at Oakton's
Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is
$100.
The
Jewish Experience in Film (HUM B27-91) features discussions of
Jewish-themed films such as The Dybbuk (1968), The Chosen
(1981), Au Revoir Les Enfants (1987), Avalon (1990),
and Europa, Europa (1990). Four-week course meets 1 - 3 p.m.,
Thursdays, starting Aug. 4, at Temple Judea Mizpah, 8610 Niles Center
Road, Skokie. Course fee is $60.
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
with peers age 50 and over.
