Enroll in Oakton Emeritus Program Summer Classes

Summer may be slipping away, but there is still time to register for unique classes offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Terrorism: An Academic Look (PSE B19-91) examines terrorism as a long-term political tactic, and whether or not such attacks can be eliminated. Topics will include the recent London transit system bombings. Three-week seminar meets 2 - 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays, starting Aug. 3, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $100.

The Jewish Experience in Film (HUM B27-91) features discussions of Jewish-themed films such as The Dybbuk (1968), The Chosen (1981), Au Revoir Les Enfants (1987), Avalon (1990), and Europa, Europa (1990). Four-week course meets 1 - 3 p.m., Thursdays, starting Aug. 4, at Temple Judea Mizpah, 8610 Niles Center Road, Skokie. Course fee is $60.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
