and documentary films are among the topics being tackled by the Emeritus
Program at Oakton Community College in the spring semester. Featured
courses meet at Oakton's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.
Islam and the West: 1,400 Years of Mutual Shaping
(PHL E78-71) details how Islamic and Western thought have shaped,
stimulated, and inspired each other for centuries. Ten-week course
meets Friday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., starting Jan. 25. Course fee is $110.
Documentary
Discussion (PSE B29-71) explores films dealing with the war
on terror and the fast food industry, among other topics. Six-week
course meets Monday, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., starting Jan. 28. Course
fee is $60.
The
Book of Beginnings: How to Read the Book of Genesis (PHL
E47-71) provides insight from a religious scholar about the Book of
Genesis, a collection of stories about man's origin. Eight-week course
meets Thursday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., starting Jan. 31. Course fee is
$90.
