Oakton Emeritus Program Offers Summer Variety

Expand cultural horizons by enrolling in classes offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College this summer. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Beautiful Cities of Central and Eastern Europe (ART C33-91) explores the art and architecture of four world class cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Prague, and Vienna. Four-week seminar meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Wednesdays, starting June 29. Course fee is $50.

Espionage, Hitchcock Style (HUM B25-91) examines how director Alfred Hitchcock tackles the topic of spying, which often is glamorized in his films. Movies to be discussed include The Secret Agent, Notorious, and North by Northwest. Six-week course meets 2:30 - 4 p.m., Tuesdays, starting July 5. Course fee is $70.

Kabbalah: An Introduction to Jewish Mysticism (PHL E27-91) looks at the modern revival of Kabbalah, an aspect of Jewish mysticism which examines the role of human beings. Six-week course meets 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., Tuesdays, starting July 5. Course fee is $70.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
