Registration is open for free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes sponsored by the Illinois Community College Board. Offered through the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College, these classes teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to adults 16 years and older.

Day and evening classes start the week of Jan. 5, 2009. Students must register in person with proper identification and Social Security number, if available.

Registration for evening ESL classes will be held:

Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, 7 - 9:30 p.m.
Maine West High School, 1765 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines
Niles North High School, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009
6:30 -8:30 p.m., Lincolnwood Public Library, 4000 W. Pratt Ave., Lincolnwood
6:30 -9 p.m., Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston

Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, 7 - 9:30 p.m.
Glenbrook South High School, 4000 W. Lake Ave., Glenview
Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge
Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie

8:50 - 11:30 a.m., First Congregational Church, 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines
9:15 - 11:45 a.m., Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., Evanston
12:20 - 3 p.m., Niles Community Church, 7401 Oakton St., Niles

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, 9:15 - 11:55 a.m.
Temple Judea Mizpah, 8610 Niles Center Road, Skokie.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, 2- 4 p.m.
Center for Professional Development, Old Orchard Mall, 34 Old Orchard Center, Suite E34, Skokie.
