Free ESL Classes at Oakton Community College

Adults whose native language is not English are encouraged to register for free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at Oakton Community College.

Administered by the Illinois Community College Board, through Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL), ESL teaches listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to adults 16 years and older. Day or evening classes meet twice weekly for 20 weeks.

Students must register in person to be admitted to the ESL classes. If available, identification and Social Security Number are required at registration.

Registration for evening ESL classes will be held 7 - 9:30 p.m. on the following nights:

  • Monday, March 29
    Maine West High, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines
    Niles North High, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie
  • Tuesday, March 30
    Glenbrook South High, 4000 W. Lake St., Glenview
    Maine East High, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge
    Niles West High, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie

Registration for daytime ESL classes will be held:

  • Tuesday, April 13
    Niles Community Church, 7401 Oakton St., Niles, 12:20 - 3 p.m.
    First Congregational Church, 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines, 8:50 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 14
    Congregation B'Nai Emunah, 9131 Niles Center Road, Skokie, 9:15 - 11:55 a.m.
