Register now for fall General Educational
Development (GED) courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong
Learning at Oakton Community College, in cooperation with area high
schools.
GED courses prepare students age 19 and older to pass the GED Test,
which covers five subject areas – writing, reading, social studies,
science, and math. Most employers and schools accept the credential
as equivalent to a high school diploma.
A variety of test preparation classes begin in late September. In
addition to the pre-GED classes in English, reading, and math skills,
Oakton offers GED-level review classes in English, reading, math,
and the U.S. Constitution.
To enroll in GED test preparation classes, students must attend
a free two-course session for placement testing, counseling,
and registration. These sessions help individuals understand what
skills they may need to improve upon before taking the GED Test:
