Courses designed for experienced professionals in
human resources, as well as students interested in a career in HR,
are available this fall at Oakton Community College.
Classes meet evenings and weekends and may be applied to a certificate
at Oakton. This flexible program also allows HR professionals to update
skills and review for national credential exams. All featured courses
meet at Oakton’s Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Employee Selection and Staffing (MGT 266-050) focuses
on the fundamental principles and practices of staffing. Topics include
recruiting programs, interviews, selection criteria, and legal compliances.
Seven-week course meets 6:30 – 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, starting
Sept. 10.
Training and Development (MGT 170-050) identifies
the skills necessary to design and implement a training program. Current
trends and career opportunities will be addressed. Seven-week course
meets 6:30 – 10:15 p.m., Thursday, starting Oct. 23.
Compensation and Benefits Administration (MGT 267-050)
offers theories, concepts, issues, procedures, and techniques related
to compensation and benefits administration. Seven-week course meets
6:30 – 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, starting Oct. 29.
Other available HR courses include Effective Management Communications
(MGT 118-001) and Effective Organizational Leadership
(MGT 225-050).
