Looking for a hot career path in these uncertain economic times? Register now for courses in Oakton's Machine Technology Apprenticeship (MTA) program and take advantage of Chicago's position as the number one manufacturing area in the United States.
Courses offered this spring include Machine Technology (MTA 103), offered from 6 - 9:50 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning January 16, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., in Skokie; Jig and Fixture Design and Theory (MTA 105), offered from 6:30 - 10:20 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning January 15, at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Rd; Basic Tool and Die Construction II (MTA 206) and Advanced Die Design and Engineering II (MTA 208) will be offered in tandem from 6:30 -10:20 p.m. on Mondays, beginning January 14, in Des Plaines. There are no prerequisites for the courses. Registration is open until January 12.
These courses can be applied toward the 60-credit-hour associate in applied science degree or any of the three certificates offered by the MTA program: the 35-credit-hour Machine Technology (Apprenticeship) certificate; the 20-credit-hour Tool and Die Design and Engineering certificate; or the new accelerated 21-credit-hour Tooling Machinist certificate, designed for students interested in entry level positions in the machine trade.
