and magazines are among the topics covered this spring by the Emeritus
Program at Oakton Community College. Featured courses meet at Oakton's
Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.
Thumbs
Up, Thumbs Down (HUM E74-71) allows film aficionados to share
their opinions on the latest movies. Six-week course meets Friday,
1 - 3 p.m., starting Feb. 1. Course fee is $75.
The
New Yorker (HUM E93-71) analyzes favorite selections
from this sophisticated magazine. A subscription is required. Six-week
course meets Monday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., starting Feb. 4. Course fee
is $60.
A
Love Affair with the Movies (HUM B44-71) examines a trio
of spirited comedies from renowned directors at top form. Slated films
include Joseph Mankiewicz's A Letter to Three Wives, Ernst
Lubitsch's Trouble in Paradise, and Woody Allen's Purple
Rose of Cairo. Three-week course meets Tuesday, 10 a.m. - 12:30
p.m., starting Feb. 5. Course fee is $40.
