Three
people struggling to maintain their self-esteem and humanity in the
age of modern medicine are at the center of "Pyretown," to be staged
Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9, at both campuses of Oakton
Community College.
Playwright
John Belluso's critically acclaimed drama focuses on the unlikely
romance that develops between Louise, a woman in her late 30s, and
Harry, a paraplegic in his early 20s, as they try to navigate a tangled
health care system. The pair encounter an unlikely ally in a young
physician wrestling with his own crisis of conscience.
The
Performing Arts at Oakton presents "Pyretown" at 8 p.m., Friday, April
8, at Studio One on Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road,
and 8 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N.
Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
