Oakton Seeks Volunteer English Tutors

Volunteers interested in helping adults improve their English skills are encouraged to attend a three-part training session sponsored by Volunteers in Teaching Adults (VITA) at Oakton Community College. Training is scheduled 6:15 – 10 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8; 6:15 – 10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13; and 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Oakton’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

Tutors should be able to pledge two to six hours weekly, and assist teachers in the English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learn to Read to Learn (LTRTL) classes. VITA tutors may volunteer at a variety of locations on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
