Join Steve Thomas, host of The History Channel series, Save Our History,
on a seven-day study/travel cruise to Alaska, offered by Oakton Community
College. This year's tour departs on Aug. 10, 2006.
Before
arriving at the capital city of Juneau, enjoy a "welcome aboard" reception
presented by The History Channel. Once ocean-bound, Thomas will screen
and discuss a program about the Aleutian Islands. Upon arrival, visit
the state's oldest Russian Orthodox church, St. Nicolas, or take a
trip to the famed Mendenhall Glacier. Visit beautiful Glacier Bay
and see the large sheets of snow and ice whose retreat over two centuries
has sculpted a 65-mile long fjord. At the seaside town of Sitka, experience
a veritable crossroads of Native American and Russian cultures. Don't
miss the world's largest collection of totem poles at Ketchikan.
