Alcohol Awareness Week at Oakton April 7 - 10

National Alcohol Awareness Week will be observed at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines, April 7 - 10. A variety of free activities are planned to raise awareness of alcohol and its effects. The public is invited.

Sponsored by Oakton Health Services, National Alcohol Awareness Week will feature free screenings using a specially designed quiz to determine alcohol dependence. Participants with a high score showing them to be at risk will be referred to a counselor, and each person who completes the quiz will be entered in a drawing to win a free digital breathalyzer device.

The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM), a Schaumburg-based advocacy group, will discuss the hazards of drinking and driving at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8.
