Oakton Student Athletes Receive Academic Honors
The Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference has recognized 10 Oakton Community College student athletes for academic achievement in 2007-08. Students earned All-Academic honors by achieving a 3.0 grade point average or higher after completing 48 credit hours.
Five Oakton volleyball players received academic honors, including Adriana Ivanova (Elmwood Park) of Elmwood Park; Monica Johnson (Maine South) of Park Ridge; Eleri Rodi (Koidula Gymnasium School, Estonia) of Buffalo Grove; Kristin Santiago (Niles North) of Skokie; and Anna Weissman (Christian Liberty Academy) of Glenview. Also cited were softball player Jessica Abezetian (Maine South) of Park Ridge and women’s soccer player Gisela Gomez (Maine East) of Des Plaines.
On the men’s side, Andrew Butkus (Prospect) of Mount Prospect from the baseball team and basketball players Tylor Carr (Taft) of Chicago and Mitch Curran (The Prairie School) of Racine, Wisconsin, were recognized by the conference.
