Oakton Offers Confucian Odyssey

Visit the birthplace of Confucius on a two-week travel/study tour sponsored by Oakton Community College. Trips to China in 2008 depart in April and September.

Start in Beijing with a walk along the Great Wall and a visit to the Forbidden City. Journey to Xi'an, home of 6,000 life-size terra cotta statues guarding the burial site of China's unifying emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Travel to Qufu, birthplace of Confucius, and tour the Temple of Confucius. Stop in Shanghai to visit the Temple of the Jade Buddha and Shanghai Museum of Art and History.

An extended Yangtze River cruise is available at an additional cost. In addition to this "Confucian Odyssey," Oakton also offers two other China tours. One trip highlights life along the Yangtze River; the other features the trades along Silk Road.
