Travel
to Confucian China on a two-week travel/study tour sponsored by Oakton
Community College. Departure dates in 2005 are scheduled for July
11 and Sept. 3.
Start in Beijing with a walk along the Great Wall and a visit to the
Forbidden City. Journey to Xi'an, home of 6,000 life-size terra cotta
guards that protect the burial site of China's unifying emperor, Qin
Shi Huang. Travel to Qufu, birthplace of Confucius, and tour the Temple
of Confucius. Climb the 7,000 stone steps up Mount Taishan. Cruise
the Grand Canal and discover the secrets to silk making at the Silk
Factory and Embroidery Institute. Finally, stop in Shanghai and visit
the Temple of the Jade Buddha and the Shanghai Museum of Art and History.
An extended Yangtze River cruise is available at an additional cost.
