If
earning a bachelor's degree seems overwhelming due to work, family,
and other adult commitments, don't miss Oakton Community College's
Nontraditional Degree College Fair, 5 - 7 p.m., Wednesday,
April 6, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Admission and parking are free.
From
"fast track" programs that focus on independent study, to "life experience"
credit for those with career skills and accomplishments, many institutions
offer alternative courses of study for adult students to complete
their bachelor's degree.
"Many
college students don't have the luxury of attending daytime classes,"
says Laurie Gunning, of Oakton's Advising and Counseling Center. "This
fair pulls together a variety of alternative programs designed for
students facing a wide range of situations."
The
Nontraditional Degree College Fair hosts representatives of more than
20 Illinois colleges and universities. Among those schools invited
to attend are: DePaul University, DeVry Institute of Technology, Elmhurst
College, Governors State University, Kendall College, National-Louis
University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University,
Roosevelt University, and University of Phoenix.
