If earning
a bachelor's degree seems overwhelming due to work, family, and other
adult commitments, don't miss Oakton Community College's Nontraditional
Degree College Fair, 5 - 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, at the Des
Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Admission and parking are free.
From
"fast track" programs that focus on independent study, to "life experience"
compensation for those with career skills and accomplishments, many
institutions offer alternative courses of study for adult students
to complete their bachelor's degree.
"Traditional
class schedules don't work for everyone trying to earn a bachelor's
degree," says Laurie Gunning, of Oakton's advising and counseling
department. "This fair offers some alternative solutions through a
wide variety of programs."
The Nontraditional
Degree College Fair hosts representatives of more than 20 Illinois
colleges and universities. Among those schools invited to attend are
DePaul University, DeVry Institute of Technology, Elmhurst College,
Kendall College, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University,
Roosevelt University, and National-Louis University.
