Alternatives
to war in the Middle East will be considered at 12 p.m., Friday, Nov.
3, at Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
The
discussion features Yonatan Shapira and Bassam
Aramin, members of Combatants for Peace, a group comprised
of individuals formerly active in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Shapira is a former captain of the Israeli Air Force Reserves; Aramin
is a former member of the Fatah, better known as the Palestine National
Liberation Movement.
This
event is sponsored by Honors at Oakton, Oakton Educators for Social
Responsibility, and the Department of History and Policy Studies,
in conjunction with Faculty for Israeli-Palestinian Peace (FFIPP).
FFIPP-USA is an American-based network dedicated to educating the
academic community and promoting a just peace for Palestinians and
Israelis.
