Oakton Presents Free Summer Concerts
Enjoy the sounds of summer at two special musical events at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. Both concerts are presented free of charge and are open to the public.
Summer Jazz Recital features jazz compositions by Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, and Cole Porter performed by the award-winning Oakton Jazz Band, at 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 22. The Oakton Jazz Band is led by Carey Polacek, who has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Summer Classical Recital presents an evening of music performed by the Oakton Guitar Ensemble, directed by Michael Adamczyk at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 31. The performance includes the world premiere of two original works by Adamczyk, Conversation for Piano, Guitar and Percussion, and Song of the Clan for Oboe, Piano, and Voice.
