A
conversation with Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy,
and Sandra Day O'Connor highlights the celebration of Constitution
Day, Friday, Sept. 15, at Oakton Community College.
The
video program, "A Conversation on the Constitution: Judicial Independence,"
will be shown continuously, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at both Oakton campus
locations, 1600 E. Golf Road in Des Plaines, and 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.
in Skokie. The 90-minute taped program features Breyer, Kennedy, and
O'Connor in a discussion with high school students about how judicial
safeguards allow judges to protect the rights of minorities and those
with unpopular views.
Admission and parking are free.
The
presentation is sponsored by NPR's "Justice Talking," in cooperation
with the National Archives and Records Administration, the New
York Times Knowledge Network, American Association of State Colleges
and Universities, and others, including support from the Annenberg
Foundation Trust at Sunnylands and the Foundation for the National
Archives.
