Register for New Continuing Education Courses at Oakton

Register for more than 50 new classes being offered this spring by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College. Classes start Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005.

Figure Sculpture (ART C25-01) explores traditional and nontraditional methods of sculpting. Course incorporates concepts such as basic anatomy, proportion, and expression. Eight-week course meets 6:30 - 9 p.m., starting Thursday, Feb. 3, at Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge. Course fee is $150.

Insight Meditation and Mindful Living (PSY C26-01) shows students how to better handle stress, plus strengthen focus and concentration. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring a blanket or mat to class. Eight-week course meets 7 - 8:30 p.m., starting Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. Course fee is $99.

Finding Total Fitness for You (HEA E84-01) bases a personal fitness and weight control regime around your busy schedule. One-week seminar meets 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5 at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $99.

Other new ALL courses include: Home Improvement and Repairs for Women (TEC S61-01), Jewelry Design (ART C98-01), Watercolor Pencil Art in a Flash (ART C93-01), Franchising Opportunities (BUB E28-01), and Acting Fundamentals (COM S53-01).
