Oakton Real Estate Professor Wins Teaching Award

Gerald Cortesi, a part-time professor of real estate at Oakton Community College since 1996, has been named the 2005 Illinois Real Estate Educator of the Year. The award is presented by the Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators, to honor an educator who exhibits outstanding contributions to real estate education in Illinois.

"Gerald is a true professional and well deserving of this award," says Wayne Paprocki, coordinator of the Real Estate Institute at Oakton. "He is the author of a textbook that is used by students nationwide. We are very fortunate to have a person of his caliber at Oakton."

With 20 adjunct faculty members, Oakton's Real Estate Institute is the largest community college real estate program in Illinois. The Institute offers approved licensing courses, seminars, placement services, salesperson and broker licensing exam information, tutoring, accelerated courses, extensive library facilities, audiovisuals, and continuing education courses.
