Discover the exotic beauty of Costa Rica, a country of lush rainforests, tropical beaches, and abundant wildlife, in a tour offered by Oakton Community College's travel/study program. Four tours are scheduled in 2003: Jan. 10 - 21, Feb. 7 - 18, March 14 - 25, and April 4 - 15.Costa Rica's natural riches are the backdrop for an exciting adventure to its major landmarks. Travel to the top of a rainforest, where animals and hanging gardens of plants are hidden among the tall tropical trees. Make your way to the peak of the Poas Volcano, an 8,900-foot active cinder cone with one of the largest craters in the world. Take a "walk in the clouds" at the Monteverde Cloud Forest, a unique sub-tropical environment and a haven for birds and other wildlife.
Other trip highlights include visits to the site of the Arenal Volcano and to the Palo Verde National Park noted for its white-faced monkeys and its great variety of birds.
Throughout your Costa Rican adventure, you'll sample native dishes at specially arranged meals. A visit to a private home will give you a glimpse into the everyday lives and customs of the people. For more information, call Bea Cornelissen at (847) 635-1812.
