Joan DiLeonardi, vice chairman of the Oakton Community
College Board of Trustees, is the winner of the 2008 Trustee Education
Award, presented by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.
The ICCTA will honor the Des Plaines resident in August at an executive
committee retreat in Chicago.
Established in 1992, the award recognizes outstanding achievement
in the area of professional development. Recipients have participated
in 15 or more ICCTA seminars. DiLeonardi, the treasurer for the ICCTA,
previously received the award in 2005.
Appointed to fill a vacancy on the District 535 Board of Trustees
in June 2001, DiLeonardi was elected to a six-year term in April 2003.
She is the retired executive vice president of Lifelink Bensenville
Home Society, a nonprofit charitable health and human service organization.
She also served as executive vice president of Children’s Home
and Aid Society, a leader in providing quality services for children,
youth, and families in Illinois.
DiLeonardi holds a doctorate degree in social work from the University
of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in psychology
from DePaul University.
