Teachers,
child care professionals, and parents of young children are invited
to attend the 11th Annual Infant Toddler Conference,
7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at Oakton Community College,
1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
The
conference features keynote speakers John Roope, M.Ed., director of
the Chaddock Training Institute in Quincy, Illinois, and Denee Jordan,
a practicing psychotherapist with 20 years of experience. Their presentation
focuses on a child's important first steps into the world.
More
than two dozen workshops also are offered during the day, including
"Fussy Babies: Supporting Families and Caregivers"; "Brain Development
in the First Three Years"; "Responsive Relationships in Infant Toddler
Care"; and "Promoting Positive Parenting."
Advance
registration is $35 and includes a box lunch. Registration after April
18 or at the door is $45, space permitting. The conference is sponsored
by Oakton along with Kendall College, Children's Home and Aid, and
Chicago Metro AEYC Infant/Toddler Commission.
