Explore
the culture and historic natural treasures of Ecuador through a travel/study
program sponsored by Oakton Community College. Trips in 2007 depart
in January, March, July, and October.
Begin
in the 450-year-old capital city of Quito and experience Jacchiqua,
the Ecuadorian folklore ballet. Visit Oswaldo Guayasamin's gallery
of contemporary paintings, and take a day trip to Calderon, home of
native "bread dolls." Enjoy a seven-day Galapagos Islands cruise that
allows travelers to take part in outdoor adventures and educational
lectures. Stops include the Charles Darwin Research Station and Pinnacle
Rock, the preeminent Galapagos landmark.
This
trip requires much physical activity and is recommended for travelers
in good health. An optional weeklong extension to Peru's Machu Picchu
is offered at an additional cost.
