Explore
the culture and historic natural treasures of Ecuador through a travel/study
program sponsored by Oakton Community College. The last trip in 2007
departs Oct. 14.
Begin
in the 450-year-old capital city of Quito and experience Jacchiqua,
the Ecuadorian folklore ballet. Visit Oswaldo Guayasamin's gallery
of contemporary paintings, and take a day trip to Calderon, home of
native bread dolls. Enjoy a seven-day Galapagos Islands cruise that
includes outdoor adventure at the Charles Darwin Research Station
and Pinnacle Rock.
This
trip requires much physical activity and is recommended for travelers
in good health. An optional weeklong extension to Peru's Machu Picchu
is offered at an additional cost. Lower cost versions of this learning
vacation are available for the budget-minded traveler. Alternative
trips include more modest accommodations and meal packages.
