The Oakton Community College Kids' Club presents the musical play "Edison: The Wizard of Menlo Park" at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the TenHoeve Center (Room 1608) at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.Performed by Face to Face Productions, this play combines theater, music, creative sets, and colorful costumes to tell the life story of Thomas Edison and his more than 1,000 inventions, including the light bulb, phonograph, and motion picture projector. Adding to the fun of the performance, audience members may be called on stage to participate.
Face to Face Productions is a professional touring and educational theater program that brings audiences "face to face" with historical and literary figures. The company produces original curriculum-based musical plays that are designed to inspire, educate, and entertain young audiences, families, and communities.
Tickets are $4 for general admission, $3 for Oakton students and children ages 3 - 12, and may be purchased at the door or by calling the Oakton Box Office at 847-635-1900. There is no charge for children age 2 and under.
The 2002 - 2003 Kids' Club family program series continues with "Christmas and Hanukkah Joy," a fun-filled performance by storyteller and actor Chris Fascione on Dec. 8 and "Kucha, Your Favorite Storyteller," a rhythmic presentation of folktales, fables, and proverbs on Feb. 9.
