'How To' Computer Instruction Courses Offered at Oakton


From the Windows desktop to the World Wide Web, the Oakton Community College Emeritus Program offers several classes to help new computer users navigate their way to computer literacy.

All classes meet at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Click Here: No Experience Necessary (DPR A31-71, Touch-Tone 07148) explains how computers work and reviews basic terminology, keyboard and mouse functions, and how to start programs and use files. This six-week class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, beginning Feb. 7. The course fee is $200.

Surf's Up (DPR A35-71, Touch-Tone 08492) teaches students the basics of the Internet, including how to access the Web, use e-mail, and perform Web searches. This three-week class meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, beginning Feb. 24. The course fee is $150.

Other computer courses offered are Never Say, "I Don't Do Windows" (DPR A33) and Computer Graphic Design: Greeting Cards and More (DPR A43).
