The Second Annual Energy Summit for Local Government
and Education is scheduled 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept.
25, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. This
free event is presented by the Illinois Council of Air Conditioning
and Refrigeration Educators to showcase advances in energy efficiency
and ideas on how to implement energy-saving practices in schools,
municipalities, hospitals, and other institutions. Grant funding for
energy conservation initiatives also will be covered.
Speakers include William S. Haas, energy division representative for
the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity; Lisa
Mattingly, P.E., deputy director of professional services at the Illinois
Capital Development Board; Brian Kumer, president of Thermal Imaging
Services, Inc.; and Carol Timms, president of Educational Dividends,
a Champaign-based company founded in 1994 to develop K – 12
projects that integrate technology, workplace skills, leadership,
and standards-based learning.
Professional groups confirmed to attend the summit include the International
Facility Management Association; American Society of Heating, Refrigeration,
and Air-Conditioning Engineers; Association for Facilities Engineering;
and the Northern Illinois Air Conditioning Contractors Association.
The public also is invited to learn more about green energy practices.
