Travel to Central Europe with Oakton

Experience the history and heritage of Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest on a two-week study/travel tour sponsored by Oakton Community College. One scheduled trip remains in 2004, Sept. 29 - Oct. 14; three additional trips are planned in 2005: May 18 - June 2, July 13 - 28, and Sept. 28 - Oct. 13.

Start in Berlin and visit the newly restored Reichstag and former "Checkpoint Charlie." See the remains of the Berlin Wall and enjoy lectures about Germany's political history to learn how two countries merged into one. In Prague, visit the exquisitely carved Loreto Convent, walk across the famous Charles Bridge, and take a brewery tour.

Head to Krakow and enjoy a Chopin recital and the foods of Poland. Tour St. Catherine's Church, featured in Schindler's List, visit the Polish National Gallery, and dine in a historic Krakow restaurant. Finally, travel to Budapest, one of Europe's most animated cities. Cruise the Danube, visit the Fisherman's Bastion, and enjoy a luncheon with local Hungarians.
