The head
of two major career programs at Oakton Community College has earned
a free lifetime membership in the Association for Facilities Engineering
(AFE), to acknowledge his more than 25 years of service to the organization.
Prof.
Chad Ganger, a resident of Niles who joined Oakton's faculty in 1977,
now is qualified to receive full AFE membership benefits without paying
dues, according to an announcement by the group, which is currently
celebrating its 50th anniversary.
"This
honor is personally gratifying, and emphasizes that students learn
from experienced professionals at Oakton," said Ganger, coordinator
of the Facilities Management and Engineering and Air Conditioning,
Heating, and Refrigeration Technology programs.
Ganger
holds several Illinois state credentials, including Registered Professional
Engineer (PE), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), and Certified Energy
Manager (CEM). He also is a Registered Energy Professional (REP) for
the City of Chicago's new energy code.
The
AFE provides education, certification, technical information, and
many other resources for plant and facility engineering, operations,
and maintenance professionals worldwide. Benefits include industry
recognition; career advancement; networking and educational opportunities;
and access to cutting edge industry publications.
