Oakton
Community College trustee emerita Joan B. Hall is the winner
of the 2005 Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award, presented by
the Illinois Community College Trustees Association. Hall will be
honored Friday, June 17, at the annual ICCTA awards banquet in Chicago.
"Joan
is a mentor and a model of how to be and what to do," said Margaret
Lee, Oakton president. "She sees the big picture, believes in the
College's mission, and supports the people who carry out that mission.
She also holds people accountable and asks tough questions."
A
Park Ridge resident since 1966, Hall was elected to Oakton's Board
of Trustees in 1985. During her 20-year tenure, she has held the offices
of chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, and liaison to the Oakton Community
College Educational Foundation.
Throughout
the years, Hall has served as lobbyist for community college issues
in the Illinois legislature and Congress. She also maintains an active
presence in civic, educational, and political organizations. She currently
works with the Republican Women of Park Ridge and Maine Township Republican
Women's Club, and is a past president of both organizations.
