The Chicago Writers Series at Oakton Community College
welcomes National Book Critics Circle Award finalist Aleksandar
Hemon at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Oakton’s Des
Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Hemon, a native of Sarajevo, the largest urban center in Bosnia and
Herzegovina, will showcase his current novel, The Lazarus Project,
which centers on the murder of a young Jewish immigrant. Hemon is
the winner of the 2008 Chicago Tribune Heartland Award in fiction,
and recipient of a 2004 MacArthur “Genius” Grant and a
2003 Guggenheim Fellowship.
This program is funded by Oakton Student Activities and the Oakton
Educational Foundation.
