Courses
designed for experienced human resource professionals, as well as
students interested in a career in HR, are available this spring at
Oakton Community College. Classes meet evenings and weekends and may
be applied to a certificate at Oakton.
This
flexible program allows HR professionals to update skills and review
for the national PHR and SPHR credential exams. Students may customize
their course load to meet the needs of their current position. Featured
courses meet at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Human Resources Management (MGT 165-050) covers the
principles and practices of human resources management impacting businesses
today. Eight-week course meets Wednesday, 6 - 10 p.m., starting Jan.
23.
Negotiations (MGT 285-050) details the theory and
processes of negotiation as practiced in a variety of settings. Eight-week
course meets Thursday, 6:30 - 10 p.m., starting March 20.
Human
Resource Management Law (MGT 268-050) investigates federal
and state legislative, judicial and administrative regulations in
the workplace. Topics to be discussed include affirmative action,
labor law, workers' compensation, and employee pension benefits. Seven-week
course meets Wednesday, 6:30 - 10:20 p.m., starting March 26.
Other
available HR classes in the program include: Organizational Behavior
(MGT 205-050), Organizational Change Leadership (MGT 228-050), and
Human Resources Certification Exam Preparation (MGT 280-050).
