Human resource careers get a boost this spring at
Oakton Community College with evening and weekend courses for experienced
HR professionals and students interested in a career in HR.
This program allows HR professionals to update skills and review for
the national PHR and SPHR credential exams. Students may customize
their course load to meet the needs of their current position. Classes
meet at Oakton’s Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Human Resources Management (MGT 165-050) covers the
principles and practices of human resources management impacting businesses
today. Eight-week course meets 6 – 10 p.m., Wednesday, starting
Jan. 22.
Human Resource Management Law (MGT 268-050) investigates
federal and state legislative, judicial and administrative regulations
in the workplace. Topics to be discussed include affirmative action,
labor law, workers’ compensation, and employee pension benefits.
Seven-week course meets 6:30 – 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, starting
March 25.
Organizational Behavior (MGT 205-050) emphasizes
individual behavior and the impact of work teams within an organizational
structure. Seven-week course meets 6:30 – 10 p.m., Thursday,
starting March 26.
