Designed
for experienced practitioners, as well as those interested in a career
change, Oakton Community College announces the availability of a new
Human Resource Specialist Certificate. This is a cost-effective
and convenient way for HR pros to update skills, and review for the
National Exam for PHR and SPHR credentials.
This
flexible program allows participants to customize course work to meet
their current employment needs. Three classes begin in March and April
at the Des Plaines campus:
Preparation
for the National Certification Exam for PHR and SPHR Credentials (MGT
290) is a four-session review course for the Professional in Human
Resources (PHR) and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
credential exam. Classes meets 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., on Friday, April
16, Saturday, April 24, Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. The
fee for this two credit hour class is $116, plus a $25 application
fee and $15 registration fee.

Training
and Development (MGT 170) meets Thursday nights, 6:30 - 10 p.m.,
starting March 4. This 10-week course covers topics such as setting
up an internal training program; the role of HR in training; employee
development; and teaching adult learners.
HR
Law (MGT 268) meets Tuesday nights, 6:30 - 10 pm, starting April
6. This six-week course covers topics such as Family Medical Leave
Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and laws covering discrimination
and harassment.
