Designed for both experienced human resource professionals, as well as those
interested in HR as a possible career, Oakton Community College announces
the availability of a new Human Resource Specialist Certificate.
Now, HR professionals have an economic and convenient way to update their
skills, especially with the pending October 16 deadline for compliance of
the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
This flexible
certificate program allows participants to customize course work to meet
the needs of their current position. Two classes begin in late October at
the Des Plaines campus:
Topics in
Management: Credential Review for HR Professionals (MGT 290) meets Wednesdays
from 2:30 to 5:50 p.m., starting Oct. 22. This six-week course provides
a review of materials to prepare for the Professional in Human Resources
(PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential exam.
The cost of this two credit hour class is $116, plus a $25 application fee
and $15 registration fee.

Employee
Selection and Staffing (MGT 266) meets Thursdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m.,
starting Oct. 23. This eight-week course covers topics such as recruiting
programs, interviews, selection criteria, job descriptions, and legal compliance
with hiring and termination.
