Hubbard Street 2 Heading to Oakton

The acclaimed Hubbard Street 2 international dance troupe takes the stage at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 15, in a benefit performance for the Oakton Community College Educational Foundation. A reception featuring hors d'oeuvres and dessert follows the performance at Oakton's Performing Arts Center, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

A vibrant company of six dancers, 17 to 25 years old, Hubbard Street 2 will perform works by some of the nation's most gifted choreographers. Led by artistic director Julie Nakagawa Böttcher, Hubbard Street 2 combines elements of theatrical, jazz, modern, and classical dance, and performs at schools, community centers, and theaters for more than 35,000 people each year. Hubbard Street 2 has performed in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Tickets are $35 with proceeds supporting scholarships, programs, and projects that promote Oakton's academic mission. This performance is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Art Council, a state agency, and support from Bank One and Sodexho Dining Services.
