Hubbard
Street 2, the internationally celebrated dance troupe, performs at
8 p.m., Saturday, May 14, in a benefit for the Oakton Community College
Educational Foundation. A reception featuring hors d'oeuvres and dessert
follows the benefit at Oakton's Performing Arts Center, 1600 E. Golf
Road, Des Plaines.
Under
the guidance of artistic director Julie Nakagawa Böttcher, Hubbard
Street 2 combines theatrical, jazz, modern, and classical dance, giving
life to works by some of the nation's most gifted choreographers.
Formed in 1997, Hubbard Street 2 is an integral component of Hubbard
Street Dance Chicago's education and community outreach efforts, performing
at schools, community centers, and theaters for more than 35,000 people
each year.
Tickets
to this fundraiser are $35, with proceeds supporting scholarships,
innovative programs, and other projects that promote Oakton's academic
mission. This event is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois
Art Council, a state agency, and support from Bank One, a division
of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., and Sodexho Dining Services.
