Business people seeking an edge in public speaking, presentations, and creative problem solving can learn important skills in a new tandem course offered at Oakton Community College. The newly developed course, called Interact [Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Des Plaines campus], synthesizes the theories of personal growth psychology with fundamental acting and improvisational techniques."Everyone can benefit from learning ways to recognize conflict and make better decisions, whether in the workplace or at home," says Patti Interrante, a theatre instructor at Oakton who teaches Interact along with Mike Maloney, psychology instructor. "This course teaches self-awareness and reflection as a path to motivation and greater confidence."
To sign up for Interact, students must register for one section of psychology [PSY 107 008 or PSY 108 008] and one section of theater [THE 103 008 or THE 202 008]. For more information, please contact Patti Interrante at 847-376-7059, or pinterra@oakton.edu, or visit Interact on the Web at http://servercc.oakton.edu/~mikem/interact.htm.
