Experience
history, culture, and art on a two-week travel/study tour of Italy
offered by Oakton Community College. Three trips are planned in 2004:
April 24 - May 8, July 10 - 24, and Oct. 23 - Nov. 6.
Begin
in Milan, Italy's capital and opera center, and view the gothic cathedrals
throughout the city. Travel next to Venice, stopping at Verona, home
of Romeo and Juliet. In Venice, visit St. Mark's Square and Basilica,
Piombi Prisons, and the Bridge of Sighs. Take an optional island tour,
pausing at Murano Island, famous for the glass-blowing centers dating
back to the 13th century. Continue on to Florence to visit the Academia,
home of Michelangelo's David, and the Uffizi Gallery, filled
with works by Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Raffaello, and Botticelli.
Finally, travel to the eternal city of Rome, to experience the Vatican
Museums and Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, and catacombs along Old
Appian Way.
Along
the journey, savor Italian culture through cuisine, art, and personal
interaction. For more information and complete itineraries, call Bea
