"Keep Warm Illinois," a program to help state residents cope
with rising energy costs, is the focus of meetings at both campuses
of Oakton Community College. Featuring a one-hour program and Q-and-A
session with a qualified energy expert, the "Keep Warm Illinois" meetings
will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Business Conference
Center at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, and 7 p.m., Tuesday,
Dec. 13, in the Acorn Room at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln
Ave., Skokie.
"With
record natural gas prices, Illinois households will face significantly
higher heating bills this winter," Gov. Rod Blagojevich says in a
letter introducing "Keep Warm Illinois." "While every family in Illinois
will be affected, higher home heating costs will create a particular
hardship for senior citizens and families already struggling to make
ends meet."
The
"Keep Warm Illinois" Web site (keepwarm.illinois.gov)
offers a variety of tips for households and businesses to save energy
and lower their utility bills. Information about state energy assistance
programs and help with utility service complaints also are available.
