View, study, and photograph the fertile habitat of Kenya on a travel/study
safari offered by Oakton Community College. Four trips to the east African
country are planned for 2004: January 14 - 27, June 9 - 22, August 4 - 17,
and October 6 - 19.
Begin your
journey in Nairobi and visit the Department of Paleontology and the National
Museum of Kenya; then, stop in Boystown to learn about current social issues
affecting Kenyan children. Drive across the Athi Plaines through one of
the best-known gaming parks. Enjoy the campsite of wildlife researchers
and visit Lake Nakuru, home of a million flamingos. Tour Mt. Kenya and cross
the equator to the Samburu Game Reserve to view elephants, leopard, lions,
Grevy zebras, giraffes, and Beisa oryx.
The Kenyan
adventure also offers a balloon safari at an additional cost. An optional
Tanzania extension also is available and includes a sundown tour of Lake
Manyara National Park, a picnic in the park, and a daylong observational
safari of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Throughout
the safari experience, participants will be immersed in the culture and
wildlife of Kenya. For complete itineraries and costs, call Bea Cornelissen
