Kindergarten
through sixth grade students are invited to enroll in Kids' College,
a summer enrichment program at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf
Road. Parents should register soon to take advantage of the 10 percent
"early bird" discount.
Classes
are offered in five, one-week sessions, July 11 through Aug. 8, and
meet 1:20 - 4:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The course fee for
all featured courses is $100.
The
following courses are offered during the week of July 18:
I'm in a Rhyme (KDIE 04-32), for youngsters entering kindergarten
and first grade, is a speedy way to increase mastery of vocabulary
while fostering a love for language.
Theater Games (KDES 99-32), for students entering the second
and third grades, challenges children's imagination through improvisation
exercises.
Integrating Math and Science (KIDS 44-32), for youths entering
fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, allows students to conduct unique
experiments, including making tornadoes and doing plate tectonics
with peanut butter and jelly.
Other
classes include Pond Life (KIDS 11-32), Reading and Questioning
(KIDS 80-32), and Design and Sketch Like a Pro (KDES 11-32).
