Students
in grades K-6 are invited to have fun while learning at Kids' College,
a summer program at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road. An
"early bird" discount is available to parents and guardians who meet
registration deadlines.
Classes
are offered in five one-week sessions from July 10 through Aug. 10,
and meet for three hours Monday through Thursday. Courses featured
the week of Aug. 7 include:
Reading
for Kindergarten (KIDS 70-32) emphasizes the enjoyment of
reading through activities including crafts, drama, and word recognition.
Course fee is $105.
Archeology
(KIDS 56-32) helps to bring out the young Indiana Jones in
accelerated youngsters entering second and third grade. Course fee
is $113.
Beginning
Study Skills (KIDE 91-32) provides valuable study techniques
to upcoming fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. Course fee is
$105.
Other
classes include Reading for First Grade (KIDS 09-34),
Science (KIDS 12-32), Floaters and Sinkers
(KDES 97-32), Pocket Poems (KDES 88-32), Geology
(KIDS 46-32), Reading and Questioning (KIDS 80-34),
Writing Extenders Workshop (KIDE 11-32), Mastering
Fractions (KIDS 25-32), and Book Camp (KDIE
06-32).
